HELSINKI SIGHTSEEING TOUR OR CHURCH BOAT RACE

For a breath of fresh air and a taste of traditional Finland, get on board and row in a 12-meter long wooden church boat !

The church boat, "kirkkovene", is a traditional Finnish rowing boat, which carried our ancestors almost every Sunday, sometimes over very long distances, to the holy mass. After the mass, the crews would set out for the return journey and the villages would compete to see which boat would arrive at its destination first.
The team that won the race would receive much admiration and respect from the other competitors. Today, we use the boats for fun ecological exercises, sightseeing tours and animated races for companies.

Church boat rowing is a fun group activity and is also suitable for beginners! We have 2 boats available and they can accommodate up to 14 people per boat and a coxswain who runs the boat.

Welcome to try your skills on a church boat ! Before boarding, you will be equipped with a life jacket and extra clothing if needed. The guides will divide the group into seats, teach you their best rowing techniques and safety instructions before heading out onto the lake. Our rowing activity lasts approximately 2 hours. During the rowing tour, we will take a break on one of the hundreds of islands in the archipelago.

We can start from different places around Helsinki, Kulosaari, Keilaniemi, Katajanokka, Kaivopuisto to name a few.
