The cold in Finland, not even afraid !
The onion technique
Dressing against the cold consists of adding layers of technical clothing :

The base layer
This is the first, the one that is in direct contact with your skin: t-shirt and underpants (tights/leggings). This layer must be breathable, wick away perspiration and dry quickly. Prefer hydrophobic materials such as technical t-shirts in synthetic fiber or merino wool. The latter has the advantage of keeping you warmer.

The middle layer
The middle layer is the one that is put on top of the base layer. Its purpose is to keep warm and retain heat. This layer should be breathable to wick moisture away from the body. It is then a thick fleece and if you are chilly, an extra down jacket, in synthetic or feathers. For the bottom, lined, warm and waterproof ski pants are perfect.

The outer layer
As its name suggests, it is in direct contact with the outside and is the last layer that will protect you from bad weather: wind, rain, snow. It must be waterproof and windproof. We recommend Gore-tex type materials. Its purpose is also to evacuate perspiration from the body.
